5 Tips for a Calm Home in the Evening (with Kids)

Bringing you 5 quick tips to keep your house in ease + flow (with kids!!!) in the evening. I’m not one for structure 24/7, I appreciate time when I can just kind of bop around as I please (water my flowers, watch a Netflix show, read a few chapters of a book etc) but I’ve realized after loads of trial and error we MUST HAVE STRUCTURE in our home, in the evening!!! It’s so vital, VITAL I tell you! When we go “off schedule” everyone suffers.

5 Tips for a Calm Home in the Evening

  1. keep your home clean and uncluttered, especially the counters, do a quick sweep it takes 5 seconds
  2. light candles or diffuse calming scents
  3. play relaxing music in the background (we do jazz at dinner then transition to piano music)
  4. eat dinner early so you can relax early – we like to be in bed by 8pm at the latest to just unwind with a tea
  5. hot tea, sleep/calm supplements, little snack or Sofia’s fave – fluffy milk (just froth whole milk with a little honey + cinnamon)

It’s such a nice ritual to follow and whenever we get off course it’s easy to hop back into it. xx

Try: creating a routine your family loves and feels grounded in! Start by picking 2 things that you would enjoy doing in the evening then DO those things – tweak and add to it as needed.
