How was your 4th of July!?
We were in FL for a long weekend visiting my family then took a little side trip to South Beach!
Our flight left Friday afternoon into Orlando, we then rented a car and drove 2hrs south to my parents.
Saturday we had a big family cookout that my parents had been planning. It was HOT but so much fun! The girls swam in the pool, we all ate bbq and played corn hole. There were 4th of July decorations everywhereeee, it was a total vibe! *thank you Mom and Dad for hosting!
Sunday, Mike and my Dad went golfing. How, I have absolutely no idea. The humidity level was at the point where you are instantly wet the second you step foot outside. Us girls had a pool day, which again, it was so hot I was sweating in the pool!!! But it is the middle of summer in south FL so that’s to be expected. We all went to grab Italian ice in the early evening, it was the perfect cool down. My flavor of choice was pineapple (aka pee in the snow – Lily loved it!) + strawberry.
Monday we headed even further south, down to Miami. We always stay at The Palms Hotel + Spa. It’s very family friendly, beachfront, clean, no “party scene” (haha I feel so old writing that), food/drinks are on point and it draws a big international crowd which we love! It’s fun meeting people from other countries 🙂
We spent the day at the beach. There’s not much lounging with Sofia, we swam in the ocean for about 4hrs with her. She was “snorkeling” with these goggles we picked up at Target on the way. They are SO good – had zero issues with water getting into them. The water was calm, shallow, clear and absolutely amazing!!! After showering we headed to dinner down the street where I had the best lasagna of all time at Donna Mare Trattoria. Highly recommend!
And then we flew back to Charlotte on the 4th of July, grabbed a few fireworks, Mike put on a mini show then we immediately went to bed.
Sofia’s cheer and gymnastic gyms are closed this week so the only thing we had going on was work and 1 day of tutoring. It’s been really nice to have slow days but I am looking forward to getting back into our routine next week…and then next weekend we’re off on our next family adventure (my mom, dad, sister + nieces too!!!) WE CAN’T WAIT!
Weekly Find: Target goggles
Hope you have a great weekend!
